Ulrich Chomche is a Cameroonian center for the Toronto Raptors, known for his length, athleticism, and defensive presence. Standing 6’11” with a 7’4″ wingspan, Chomche became the first player from NBA Academy Africa ever drafted into the NBA, selected 57th overall in 2024 before landing in Toronto on a two-way contract with Raptors 905.
Born in Bafang, Cameroon, in 2005, Chomche developed through Africa’s premier basketball pipeline and built a reputation as a rim protector with raw but growing offensive touch. His timing as a shot-blocker and his ability to defend in space make him a promising long-term project for the Raptors.
Though still refining his scoring and post moves, Chomche’s motor, physical tools, and defensive instincts fit Toronto’s emphasis on versatile, high-energy big men. His path from the NBA Academy system to Canada represents a milestone for African player development and a glimpse of the Raptors’ international scouting success.
