Isaiah Hartenstein is a German-American forward/center for the Oklahoma City Thunder, valued for his toughness, rebounding, and high-IQ passing from the post. Standing 7’0″ and 250 pounds, Hartenstein provides Oklahoma City with physicality and versatility in the frontcourt.
Born in Eugene, Oregon, in 1998 and raised in Germany, Hartenstein developed through the Zalgiris Kaunas system before being selected 43rd overall in the 2017 NBA Draft. After gaining experience in Europe, he transitioned to the NBA and built a reputation as one of the league’s most efficient backup bigs, with stops in Houston, Denver, Cleveland, and New York prior to joining the Thunder in 2024 free agency.
Hartenstein’s combination of interior defense, screening, and passing fits perfectly within Oklahoma City’s unselfish, motion-heavy offense. His ability to anchor bench units, protect the rim, and facilitate ball movement has made him a key complementary piece alongside the Thunder’s young core of Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Chet Holmgren.
